Later on into the later 80's and early 90's the artist became obsessed by the Italian light due to repeating yearly excursions with students to Florence and Venice like in: "Porta Negra" and "To and from the light". Then, after having seen the Italia Renaissance portraits, a series of critical observed heads emerge "Caligula" and "Philip 2nd of Spain". In the later 90's the angels appear.
